Removal of Single Sign on for MWA Services

Introduction

Since 2018, MWA members and MWA ASVO users have had the option of logging on to MWA services with their own institution credentials (aka single sign on- or SSO). Due to various factors beyond our control, this method for authentication is no longer sustainable or supportable due to increasing costs, development/administrative effort and lack of vendor & community support.

What Will Happen?

Starting early October we will begin the first steps towards phasing out the SSO login method for some MWA services. We will communicate these changes in advance and provide instructions for users to manage this change.

What Services are Affected?

There are only three services which currently use MWA's SSO service:

COMPLETEOctober 3, 2023

MWA ASVO

  • New users will no longer be able to sign up to MWA ASVO via the SSO method. New users may still register using a local MWA ASVO account or Data Central account.
  • Existing SSO users may still login to the MWA ASVO website and submit jobs.
  • We advise that SSO users should register for a new "local MWA ASVO account" or "Data Central" account and use their new API key with the command line client.
  • MWA ASVO admins will try and ensure your new account has the same access as your previous SSO account, but if not please see: MWA ASVO: Getting Help
